NUST Health Sciences Outstanding Profile

The Department of Health Sciences was constituted in 2008 to strategically contribute to the growth and development of the Namibian Health sector. This was informed by national imperatives as contained in the previous NDP-4, Harambee Prosperity Plan, and Vision 2030. Contributions of the department to national and international health sector are vividly reflected through the following: 

 

1. Generation of top-class graduates from offered qualifications. NUST is the only institution training Paramedics, Medical Scientists, Health Information Practitioners and Nutritionists in the country. Our graduates are employed, locally, regionally, and internationally. 

 

2. The Department's world-class staff have contributed to COVID-19 safety and prevention measures in the country through research, innovation, and response activities. 

 

3. Community Health Participation through contributions in collaboration with various stakeholders in health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, patient management, information management and service delivery. 

 

The Department of Health Sciences at NUST offers qualifications in Health Sciences to address the skills shortage in health care within the country. Careers are demanding and play a vital role in health governance, the health system and at community level through health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, patient management, service delivery and quality management.
